ChoiceEveryday as I wake up I have to make a choice. Life is all about choices. I can make good choices or bad choices. I choose everyday whether to go to school, what to wear to school, what class I'm going to attend, what teacher I like best, whether to leave early or not. Everyday Im making a choice in my life. It goes from simple choices about school to other choices about the streets.For example, I choose whether i want to go party, if I want to drink, if I want to smoke. No one can really make me do anything. I do what I choose to do. Sometimes when making simple choices I don't think about it as much, but in life things aren't always good. when it comes to making a big choice, I go threw a process of stress because Im thinking about it to much. Sometimes I get depress, worried, anxious. Many different feelings all at once. No one is perfect. Many people including me make bad choices but that doesn't make us bad people. One time I had to make a choice that has changed my life in so many ways. So far that was on of the hardest choices I ever made. I had four years with my ex boyfriend. It was a on and off relationship. We could also say unhealthy relationship. So I had a boy best friend who knew everything I was going through with my ex. Little did I know that he liked me. So as we spend more and more days talking about just life , chilling enjoying each other's company he began to tell me his feelings towards me.I began developing feelings for him also. It was a very very tough choice but I had to choose between my ex and him. Eventually I chose him. It was a very hard choice for me because it was four years of my life but I can say now I don't regret that choice. I'm very happy now. At the beginning I was very scared I kept going back thinking this isn't right, but it turned out way better then what I thought and to this day I'm very happy with my choice . It was a hard choice, but one of my best choices. The poem "The Road Not Taken" By:Robert Frost is a good point to realize the way people do make their choices.In the poem the narrator had to choose between two roads. The traveler chose the second road. It took him a little time to decide which road to take because in stanza one it says "long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth". What had finally determined his choice between the roads was that he saw the second road had a better claim because it was so grassy and wanted to be wear. The symbol to this poem is the roads because that's where he had to make a choice, between the two roads. The traveler made a good choice because he took the time to think about it' he didn't just jump into the 1st road because he saw everyone going there. It shows me that he was a very smart guy and thinks twice , sees the negatives and positives on a situation before making a choice and that's very good. This poem can reflect on the lives of many people today because many people don't think twice before jumping into something. Most people just observe ooh everyone's getting on this road so let me get on that one to. Think for yourself don't think like others. Just always make sure what you choose is gonna be the best for you. The short story Dead End" By:Rudolfo Anaya is a great short story that shows how people make different choices in life. The Hispanic Legend of La Llorona is the foundation to the short story Dead End. They have a connection. Both characters are named Maria. They were both faced with choices. In the short story Dead End Maria has a couple of choices to make for herself and at the end she makes the right, correct choice for her. Maria had made a promise to her mother who had passed away. She promised her that she would finish high school and go of to college and be someone. Maria had to choose whether to smoke weed , be cool,and have the cutest boy.She made the right choice She pushed all that away and chose school which was more important to her. That was the correct choice to make. She knew if she did the opposite she wasn't gonna fulfill the promise and would end up dropping out like all them other kids. Maria was different. Also like in the legend , the narrator also named Maria made the choice of thorwing her kids in the river which was a very bad choice.With this legend in mind, Maria thought that she wanted to make the best and right choice for herself and her life and she did so. I truly agree with Maria's choice so much, cause I have been in that position. One time I was chilling with my girls and they wanted to smoke but I had school the next day.I knew I had to go. It was already getting late like 12 at midnight. So instead of smoking, I went home. I decided to not smoke and just go home because I knew I had to be up for school early the next day. I know I made the right choice cause the next day none of them were at school but me. I truly agree Maria's choice and I know it's gonna pay off. Maria knows the promise she made to her mother is very important and every time she felt like giving up , she thought of her mother and the promise she had made her and knew it was very important for her to make it happen. Some kids envy Maria because they thought she thought she was better then all of them because she was different she didn't smoke or drink, or partied, she was always on top of school and just cause of that , the kids envy her. Usually kids will envy when another kid is concited and dresses so hot, and acts like their better, but Maria was nothing like that. The essay The Tyranny of Choice is a great essay that describes in some many ways what choices are and how people sometimes just don't benefit from one choice. Some people dont get conform with just having one good choice, if they get one good, they dey want other one thats better , then another one even more better. Like it says in the essay although some choices is undoubtedly better than none, more is not always better than less. Sometimes you may think because a person has made a good choice that the person is happy, or beacuse people are getting wealthy they are happy, but as said in the essay studys show that Thus, it seems that as society grows wealthier and people become freer to do whatever they want, they get less happy. Things just arent always what they seem. So ass described in the poem there are two kinds of people. The two kinds are “maximizers” (those who always aim to make the best possible choice) and “satisficers” (those who aim for “good enough,” whether or not better selections might be out there). Sometimes i think i fit into both. satisficers are the regualr normal people that when they go shopping they see somthing good that they like and that meets there standards and they get it. But maximizers see something they like, check it up real good to make sure its good and yet still go looking for more.They don't make there choice unless its the best. Like maximizers can just make good and good chocies but then they won't be happy and will want to change it up or sometimes even regret a choice and try to change it but would end up just making it worst. Maximzers are most likely to make better objective choices than satisficers but get less satisfaction from them. One of the “costs” of making a selection is losing the opportunities that a different option would have afforded. Most times when making a choice we all have high expectations, that our choice would give us a greets outcome. But the outcomes aren't always what we expect. That's why it's just best to make a choice and just know to yourself that it was right for you. sometimes what could be good for you can be bad for others. Even wen you know you might be making the wrong choice just be satisfy with what you chose. Choices is part of life and this is what we do everyday. Pick a choice .
This cartoon that i chose is good example of choices in life. It also relates to me. This cartoon pictures shows as i said before, how just when you wake up, you wake up making choices. In this cartoon you see the boy looking at his closet in his head thinking hum what should I wear today?. This is what I go threw and million of other kids every morning. Making a choice of what to wear everyday. It seems so easy but to kids like me is hard. Sometimes you don't want to wear the same thing, or what you want to wear is dirty, or you can't find the correct jeans to match the shirt. You just look and look and choose and choose. Sometimes it takes me hours to finally decide on what to wear. I know other kids go threw it to. This cartoon perfectly shows how the smallest choices can be so hard. All in all me just like every single person is this world make choices every second of our lives from good to bad, from happy to sad, Its part of life and god leaves it to us to choose as we please. Most of the time is good that we can decide on what we want, its freedom cause in some other countries people can't decide, but sometimes i sit and wonder , that if god knows someone is about to make a wrong choice why he can't stop them and make it a good one for them. But like everyone else i believe everything happens for a reason and me like others I'm one of those people that make different choices all the time, sometimes I'm not prepared for the outcome , but other times I just have to deal with it. I have also learned that people make choices after choices and more choices because they seem to just not be satisfy with one and that just creates more problems in this world. But again its part of life.
